Bio
The Fold began taking their unique, sculpted and articulate pop-scapes to Melbourne music venues in early 2002. Keen to stretch their wings, in 2004 The Fold embarked on a guerilla-style tour of London and the lowlands of Western Europe to promote their first EP Never, Again. This included some festival appearances, including Alive in Belgium (www.alive.be) and Haldern Pop in Germany (www.haldern-pop.de)
The following year a generous grant from the the Australia Council for the Arts allowed the band to begin work on their first full-length album A Kind of Lightening, back home in Melbourne. Incorporating the lazy, spacey vibes of the quiet life in Melbourne’s inner north and the crude and difficult rhythms of London’s east, the album highlights the unique song-writing talents of this dynamic group. The songs are painted in rich, honest colours with attention to detail and precise playing surrounding a mixture of rock experimentation and pop-song honesty.
Locked away in 2007 polishing their forthcoming album, The Fold are poised to make their presence known once again on the live scene of Melbourne. Songs from their album have already received airplay on Melbourne’s 3RRR and SYN FM, with the band also appearing on SBS’s Noise TV music program.
